Cool Tips /Hot Days

Make-up :

Sizzling heat and high humidity have this irritating ability to make your make-up run away, leaving you bare faced & perhaps not as beautiful as you'd like to be! Here are a few tips, tried & tested, to help.

Scent Sense:

Even if you think your identity would be lost without your usual , heavy, sensual scent; trust me, it won't ! Sunshine destinations are perfect for light floral or fruit based perfumes which work best in the heat, so now is the time to try something light !

Boys: Try "BOSS"

Girls: Try " Anais Anais "

Sun Smarts:

O.K. - Everyone knows that the sun can ruin your skin, causing premature aging & wrinkles at best & skin cancer at worst. BUT most of us still want that "to kill for" tan to take home & show off, right ?

If you're like me you've thought up some pretty good excuses like, "I'll only stay out for a while", or, "I won't get any colour at all if I use a sunblock!", to, "My skin's just too sensitive for those heavy creams !"

There is a solution ! High factor sunblocks are getting lighter & better all the time so please try a few in the stores or from friends' supplies.

I like "Sensitive Hydro-Lotion" factor 16 by Nivea. It's totally fragrance-free, without colours or preservatives. Remember, always use at least a factor 15 on your face & factor 10 on your body. You'll still get a great, healthy tan & without the burn, you may actually keep it longer !

Travel Essentials:

  1. Travel Sickness tablets If you know you're a sufferer I need not elaborate on this point! If you're not sure, ask your pharmacist's advice. There are many over-the-counter remedies that really work without drowziness. Please also try a few drops of an essential oil such as rosemary or lavender on a tissue & inhale occasionally. ( An all natural remedy & I think a much better one! )
  2. Antiseptic cream Always pack one that you know you're not allergic to !
  3. Aspirin A must for the hopefully infrequent bouts of sunstroke. ( Remember you're being sensible in the sun ! )
  4. Contact lenses !!! Please take along a spare pair & your glasses just in case! Also have your lens presciption with you. You may be unlucky enough to lose the extra pair whilst oogling the beautiful underwater scenery. It's actually happened to me once in Africa.

Please don't forget the Lomotil, (or any other effective anti-diarrhoea treatment ), for that sometimes unavoidable " travel tummy". It happens to the most intrepid travellers.

Come back next month for some very cool tips on how to deal with those uninvited travel companions;
